So you’ve wowed a client with your professional and brilliant work. Now what? Ideally, you want to keep a relationship going. This isn’t to sell any kind of post-product add-on or anything(Although, that’s possible if that’s your bag.) Rather, it’s just to keep a a healthy business-to-client relationship going. This awards many benefits as far as referrals and, well, just plain ole human decency. Not to mention repeat service.

So how do you do it? There is really no reason to contact them once the work is done, after all. You don’t want to seem like a desperate person you met once who is always asking you to hang out even though it’s obvious it’s not gonna happen.

Here are five natural and effective ways you can do it.

Send Newsletters

Does your company send out a monthly newsletter? If not, get on that. It’s a good way to stay in touch with customers and let them know you are still around, doing your thing. Even if you don’t have a formal mailing list, you can still send out emails to key clients every now and again that take the form of a mailing list email . This way you can keep those key relationships alive.

Clip Items of Interest

As you go through your day, reading newspapers, blogs, books or any other business reading material, keep an eye out for subjects your key clients would be interested in. If you find something that reflects their industry’s needs, send it along with a note.

Over time, this will become second nature and will begin to take no time at all. Your eyes will be trained to notice things regarding their interests and you’ll have it packed up and sent before you know it. It can do a lot of good in the long run.

Chat ‘Em Up on Social Networks

If your clients participate in the same social networks as you, make an effort to befriend them to stay in touch. If you are not on the same social networks as them, join the ones they are on. Social media is great for quick check-ins, and it can also give you a way to stay in tune with what’s going on in their businesses. This way you can be ready to offer your services when the need eventually arises. Instant business.

Make a Call

This is simple and obvious. Give a quick call to say hello. Of course, do this in extreme moderation. You don’t want to overstay your welcome. You may want to also email first as a sort of “warning” that a call will be forthcoming.

Send Referrals

Conventional wisdom dictates referrals as client-to-vendor benefits, but why not refer others to the businesses of your clients? It sure would make them happy, and get them to return the favor at a later date. Make a habit of keeping an eye out for potential customers for your clients when you do your networking rounds.

Throughout all of your interactions, don’t forget to ask the clients what they have going on. This is a great way to potentially get in the door with return work via happy clients. Remember, a happy client is a client who will work with you again.

So that’s about it. What do you do to maintain that all-important client relationship once the work has gone the way of the Dodo?

Blog Management on the Go

What happens when that great idea strikes and you are nowhere near a computer? Do you risk it? Hope your brain will remember the perfect wordphrasing until eight or nine hours later, after you’ve had a few drinks and exhaustion has set in? No way! Get one of these iPhone apps and start posting on the go. Your readers, or customers, will thank you.

WordPress – Free

The official WordPress app gives you access to any WordPress blog that you have access to. This application allows you to then post something straight to the web. However, it’s been our experience, it is better suited for drafts. Darn these fumbly hot dog fingers!

TypePad – Free

The official TypePad app, if your blog is on the TypePad platform then this is the one for you. Similar to the WordPress app. Post right to the web or set up drafts for later posting. Easy and quick.

iBlogger – $9.99

Yowch. This app sure is expensive, isn’t it? However, if serious blogging is the name of your game, it might be worth it. iBlogger gives you the capability to do just about anything with a blog post that you can do on a computer. The most comprehensive on-the-go blogging tool out there. Highly recommended. Come on, live a little. Then blog about it.

That’s it for now. As always, leave us some emails or comments with what apps you think should have been on this list. Stay on the go and keep the social media home-fires burning!

Calling it “an offer we can’t refuse,” the founders of a photo-sharing service called Divvyshot announced Friday that they have been acquired by social network giant Facebook. Financial details and other minutiae were not discussed, but it was assumed that the design team would remain on board.

Divvyshot allows for group photo sharing: multiple users can edit albums, which are grouped around various events and places. As part of the acquisition, the service will be shutting down.

“Divvyshot will begin winding down operations as of today,” the announcement explained. “Existing users can continue to use Divvyshot; however no new accounts will be issued and our iPhone application will no longer be available for download.” In six weeks, Divvyshot.com will start redirecting to Facebook.

Private e-mail addresses that many Facebook users obviously wanted to keep hidden were revealed publicly last night on a multitude of Facebook profiles, Gawker reports. The glitch lasted about 30 minutes before Facebook went ahead and sealed the gap.

An anonymous tipster let Gawker know of the breach in a message riddled with expletives: “6:46PM: I cannot [bleeping] believe it. Everybody’s email has been turned on to the public for at least the past 30 min. I tried going into my account to remove my email b/c I have an issue with a crazed stalker. But I wasn’t able to. God I [bleeping] hate FB!! When will they ever learn?!”

Hopefully soon, FB, hopefully bleeping soon.

The Los Angeles Times has reported this week that contrary t o the point of origin for the website, most Tweets originate from overseas.

Semiocast, which recently analyzed 13.5 million tweets, found that 30% of messages on Twitter come from the U.S. The remaining 70% originate in countries around the world.

According to Semiocast, the number of tweets coming from the U.S. still outnumber any individual country. But as a whole, the U.S. is far behind the rest of the world and that trend will likely not change. Americans out there, get to Tweeting!

Hitwise, an internet research company, has announced that as of 13th of March 2010, Facebook achieved 7.07% of all internet traffic to their homepage, compared to Google’s 7.03%.

But what does it all mean exactly? How accurate are these stats? Do they take things like toolbars and phone usage into account? Social media in SEO is an ever increasing part of successful SEO campaigns, but really could such monetization kill Google?

One thing that must be remembered: This is Google search we are talking about here. Google has been expanding their empire for quite some time and these stats do not take into account Gmail, Analytics or any of the other services the company provides. In short, they are a behemoth.

However, let’s not forget Google’s recent flop of an entry into the social networking world, Buzz. Buzz was hit hard with initial privacy issues and is seen as a general flop in terms of its rivals Facebook and Twitter – although of course it is in it’s early days still.

Let’s keep an eye on this in coming months. The future is social, to be sure. But who will be pulling the strings?

Justin Bieber is some young singer your 12 year old daughter, or creepy friend, probably loves. His identity is unimportant. What is important, however, is his manager was recently arrested because of an incident with…Twitter.

Scott “Scooter” Braun, manager for the tween heartthrob, was arrested on Long Island today on charges of reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance, reports AP.

Why was he arrested? Believe it or not, for NOT Tweeting. In November, Braun, 28, took Bieber to a mall appearance in Garden City, N.Y. The crowd of teenage girls became unruly, and police told Braun to announce on Twitter that the event was canceled. Prosecutors say he waited an hour and a half to drop the Tweet. Braun and his lawyers say he took only seven minutes.

Meanwhile, Justin tweeted earlier today:

You’ve got my total support @scooterbraun Wish you were here in Chicago with us #FreeScooter

What a world.

For a while there, the amount of Spam was getting a bit out of hand. How many times had you gotten follow requests only to find out they weren’t a real person, rather an ad for erectile dysfunction or pornography? Well, the folks at Twitter got on that and are now reporting their successes.

Twitter boasted that the number of daily junk tweets and blatant spam profiles have been reduced to almost one percent. In a blog posted Tuesday Twitter displayed a graph that spans from February 2009 to February 2010 showing the rise and fall of garbage tweets clogging the micro-blogging site.

“Posting harmful links to phishing or malware sites, repeatedly posting duplicate tweets, and aggressively following and un-following accounts to attract attention are just a few examples of spam on Twitter. Like it or not, as the system becomes more popular, more and more spammers will try to do their thing. We’re constantly battling against spam to improve the Twitter experience and we’re happy to report that it’s working,” Twitter wrote in its blog.

The graph, it should be noted, contains no actual numbers.
