Link Building

Link popularity and link analysis are a major factor in the relevancy algorithms that rank web pages in the organic search results of the major search engines. The numbers of inbound links to a website determine the link popularity, while link analysis evaluates which websites are linking to a site and the readable anchor text in the link itself. All incoming links are not the same. Inbound links from websites with related on-topic content carry much more weight then off-topic links.

Increasing the number of relevant inbound links with descriptive keyword-rich text in the link (anchor text) is the most important activity one can engage in to boost the rankings of a website in the organic search engine listings.

Link Building Campaigns
One way to boost link popularity is to obtain free inbound links from other related websites. This activity is time-consuming and entails identifying potential partner sites, contacting them to request a link, sometimes returning a link and following up. Another option is buying text link ads on related websites or paying for inclusion in general second-tier web directories. Link baiting is a fairly new method of link building, where website owners or bloggers place specific, often amazing, linkable content on their websites and submit this content to Digg and other content voting websites to attract links from other websites, blogs or social network sites.

More recently link baiting has taken on the form of widget marketing. Widgets are small, portable mini-applications, often written in Adobe Flash or JavaScript that work with most browsers and can easily be incorporated, free of charge, in any blog or website. They often carry advertising or links back to the publisher’s website for the purpose of link building. Text link ads and web directories also act as permanent advertisements on the host site and can deliver sustained traffic to a website for a long time.

Understanding and choosing between the various link building methods may seem complicated, but based on the clients’ goals and constraints choosing the most appropriate combination of link building tactics is quite achievable.

Link Building Program
webRulon has developed an effective link building program that includes a link request program, that solicits quality inbound links, the submission of websites to second-tier web directories for the acquisition of one-way incoming links, buying text ad links and link baiting.

Link Request Program
The Link Request program includes the following:

  • Extensive search for appropriate non-competitive link sites covering the same “theme” or similar products to request links from.
  • Sending personalized email messages to the appropriate contact person to request the link. Supplying all link information, including keyword-rich anchor text, a description, website title and exact URL.
  • Following up and verifying whether a link has been granted. Repeating the request when the initial attempt was not successful.
  • Logging and tracking all link request information including site name, URL, contact person, date the link has been requested, and more.

We never use link farms or other unethical link building practices. All links will be inbound with no commitment for reciprocal linking from the customers’ website without prior approval. We do not use any automated software, all work is done manually by hand.

Note that we can only guarantee the number of inbound links we’ll obtain if customers are willing to post a page of reciprocal links on their website.

Web Directory Submission
We often start a link building campaign with securing links from primarily free and paid  web directories. Directory links provide a good foundation for a link building campaign because they provide one-way themed backlinks.

Directory submission involves submitting the URL of a website or web pages to the appropriate category of the directory. Some directories employ human editors who review websites submissions, edit site titles and description summaries and place these pages in categories that are relevant to them. Most directories charge a one-time, or annual, inclusion fee.

Buying Text Ad Links
Buying text link advertising space on high quality relevant websites is an effective method of link building. Text link ads typically appear in an “Advertising Section” or “Sponsored Links” area of popular vertical marketing websites. They not only contribute, through the inbound links, to the link popularity of a website, but also generate qualified traffic.

Link Baiting
Linkbait creation is the development of linkable content and tools such as a search engine crawler simulator, link analysis tools or a keyword discovery program, designed to attract links from blogs, websites or social media websites.

Our link baiting service typically starts with collecting the clients’ objectives and goals followed by link bait idea development. When the link bait has been developed and implemented on the website it will be promoted online via email and on social media web sites to generate exposure and attract links.
